About the Tax Credit

You can take the credit for 2023 until April 15, 2024 or when you file your taxes, whichever comes first.

Since 1999, the Jewish Tuition Organization has been privileged to award more than 7,000 scholarships to help students obtain a Jewish day school education with funds raised through the Arizona Private School Tax Credit. You can take the credit and receive a dollar-for-dollar Arizona tax credit up to a maximum of $1,307 for filing single or married (filing separate returns) and $2,609 for married (filing joint returns).

2023 Arizona Private School Tax Credit

Original Tax Credit Switcher Tax Credit Total
Individuals $655 $652 $1,307
Joint Returns $1,308 $1,301 $2,609

This is your chance to support a child who could benefit from a quality Jewish education at absolutely no cost to you. With your help, we can achieve our goal of ensuring no child is denied a Jewish day school education because of the cost.

NOTICE: A school tuition organization cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation. A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer’s own dependent. Consult your tax advisor for specific tax advice.

Reminder: The maximum credit amount that may be taken for tax year 2023 is $1,307 for single, unmarried head of household and married, filing separate filers, and $2,609 for married filing joint filers. The tax credit for contributions to private school tuition organizations is claimed by the individual taxpayer on AZ Form 323 and Form 348.
